> Alice Cooper - School's Out

Hard to believe my kid will be singing this a week from today - for the last time! (high school, that is)

Where does the time go?
> Where does the time go?

When you figure that one out BL, please let me know.

My wife and I are still trying to figure out how 30 years went by so fast.

Keir, 2 miles, that's a good start! I ran the Bel Air 5K (here in MD) on Sunday and time chipped in at 29:16 for the 3.2 miles. My best time to date. I'll break the 28's before the season is up.
Keep in going guy, but don't push it unless you are sure you are ready. Running injuries are usually the end of it then. Have seen a few folks not be able to come back after an ankle or knee prob.
I ran track in school and continued to run well into my 30s. I love running, but my joints can't take it anymore. Is that caused by my extra weight, or is my extra weight caused by my not running.

Just by watching what I eat I had lost 14 lbs over the winter, but have gained back 3 (ball park food) already and the summer has just begun. I keep threatening (promising?) to start riding my bike to work, as I am only a couple miles away. Will save some gas $$$ and lose some LBs.

Thanks Chet. I used to run a lot (even did a marathon about 8 years ago) but stopped after having kids because of the lack of time. Yesterday's run felt much better than my first one over the weekend, though I'm definitely struggling with thinking I am capable of much more than I am. Gotta take it slow!

I was the same. I ran well into my 20's then stopped, and picked it back up about 6 years ago. The time is a factor for sure, I just do short distance competition (5K's although I want to do a 10). I don't have time to train for anymore than that but at times throw in a distance run (about 6 or 7) to build the endurance. Hopefully you have safe places to run, I see people out in traffic, which is crazy. I stick to the NCR trail or tracks.
Hey Lab, biking, good stuff. I have a few friends that use the running as cross train for the long biking comp (some over 100 miles!). Excellent low impact workout. I'm not much of a biker, but if I get to where I can't run someday, I may climb on that as an alternative.

I actually like the Bullet Boys, but that song was awful.
Riddle of the Day Arnold Schwarzenegger has a big one. Michael J. Fox has a small one. Madonna doesn't have one. The Pope has one but doesn't use it. Clinton uses his all the time. Obama is one. Mickey Mouse has an unusual one. Liberace never used his on women.. Jerry Seinfeld is very, very proud of his. Cher claims that she took on 3. We never saw Lucy use Desi's. What is it?

Actually, the song was originally recorded in French by the band Trust. I don???t remember if Trust also recorded an English version, but that was pretty common for French bands to do. As for why Anthrax decided to do covers of both versions, I don???t know. Maybe they felt bad that everyone thought they wrote the song?

Cool block Keir! I've been spinning alot of early thrash, etc. Here is a few I had on the turn table recently:

Hirax "Raging Violence"
Iron Angel "Hellish Crossfire"
Exodus "Bonded by Blood" (this one is on the FTP)
Agony "The First Defiance"
Axe Witch "Visions of the Past"
Num Skull "Ritually Abused"

Great stuff, some better than others, but cool to hear the evolution of the trash and other metal (and hear it on actual vinyl)
Glad you liked the block! I agree, it's cool to hear metal's "evolution" as you put it.

> Mornin' crew! Dumped the latest from these guys (from 2009) in the FTP, but I could not find the music donation thread to update my list. I'm still having trouble finding certain forums in the new format...

It???s not a forum anymore, it???s a group. Go to your profile and look under groups. If you???re not already a member of the Music Donations group, ask Chris.

> For my son, who graduated last night. I always crow about his athletic achievements, and he did make the all-league team in soccer, football, and baseball this year. But he also graduated 26th in his class with a 4.0 GPA, which are are even more proud of. Sadly, things will change now. He is our only child, and life will never be the same. Love you Kyle!

Of course I meant "which WE are even more proud of." My misty eyes prevented me from typing correctly.http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-sad055.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)
I just found out yesterday that Great White & Slaughter & Stephen Pearcy were in town this weekend for some Bike & Roll concert. Then I found out yesterday that it has been postponed until September. Damn, I never even heard of Bike and roll, I would have went to that

I just read about the "Bike and Roll" concerts yesterday. They were set for Michigan and Wisconson. Seems like the promoter absconded with all of the money, forcing the cancellation of the series. It's not the first time he's done this either. He's currently on probation resulting from a previous incident. According to the article, he's an all-around douchebag who's pulled many scams in the past.

> There is an interview on Eddietrunk.com with Tommy Lee and he was saying how "nobody" buys albums anymore and no one listens to whole albums anymore so he feels it is a waste of time to do them. He thinks doing little 4 song Ep's or singles is the way to go and that he does not listen to full albums anymore himself. Well, I beg to differ. I think metal and hard rock heads still look forward to full all out killer albums (I do!) and we are still getting that, especially from the Euro metal guys and gals. I really have no interest in buying singles here and there. Give me the album! Leave it to Tommy to try and spread his ADD to the rest of the world.

I just read a similar interview with Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell. I agree that I like FULL albums and that often artists toss in songs that may not be single worthy that end up being great songs and I think we would miss that. I also agree that if they concentrated on better songs to release a 4-6 song and if they came out a little more often I would be good with that as well. I know in Country Music Blake Shelton is already doing it this way. That coupled with getting his butt on TV has really made him relevant in that genre after years of obscurity. His last 4 releases were 6 song EP's and released about every 6 months.
