Before I rated this, it had two votes and was rated a "1". Are you f'n kidding?

Some listeners here are:

1) Doing the "powder" this tune is about...

or

2) They are listening to the wrong station :smashpc:
Another Darkness song? What happened to when you could not play a band more than once every 6 hours?

Yeah, I also noticed it was at a "1" when I requested that tune, and I thought the same thing..."What the f***?!? But a funny thing...I know my rating was a "10" before I requested, so how could it be a "1" with two votes. Maybe someone rated it a "-10", lol!!!

Hmmmm, me thinks there a "hater" in our mists.

You can request an artist again and again up until the first tune plays, then it goes into "Try Later" mode. The requester probably requested that tune before my Darkness request played first.

Also, I believe it's once every 2 hours since I have done my "Album Of The Day" songs by picking 5 tunes from the same album at the same time, then the tunes play about every 2 hours during the day.
yep, I selected the darkness tune and then yours came up first DD...

DD is correct, but it brings up a good point...

Would anyone have an objection to me having the site check what's in the request que prior to showing the active request button? In other words, a secondary check to see if something else has been requested from that artist, etc prior to the site showing a clickable request button? it may kill the AOTD that DD likes to run, but I'll toss it out for group discussion...

Thoughts?

Ummmm, that's a "NO" for me, lol!!! I like my AOTD ability. However, I am not sure how SAM searches the que. If after Request #1, is it in the que eventhough it is not listed on screen (yet)? If yes, then my AOTD is killed. If not, I pick my 5 for the AOTD pretty quick, so that would work in that case. Hmmmm....

Also, as DrK pointed out today, I agree that the new revamp site is a little slower than the old one. Maybe more info is loading with each screen. I think requesting a song (or 5 song block) does take a bit longer now. And with an add'l search sweep, it might take even longer.
requests don't bother me too much nor the ratings even though I rated songs and later on they have a different values but man, site is way too slow compared with the previous one. sacrificing quality for quantity, maybe? ;)) my FIOS wants to fly but the pipe on the other site is kind of thin ;) I uploaded 7 Vanden Plas LPs and it took a while... other than that I'm running HR80s 24/7 :)

Tango / DD / All -

I think the stats on the request pages were slowing the site down a LOT...So I pulled them down for now to see if the request library loads a little better...Those query's are monsters and pull, sort and quantify thousands of records, so I disabled them...

See if that part of the site works better...

I'm working on other enhancements, but this site is a lot more 'connected'...user profiles, user activity tracking, more detailed artist info...All that has slown the site down a little from the other one...It's just a matter of finding a balance and optimizing where possible. Trading off features for performance and the like ;)

Also..for ftp I intentionally throttle back ftp during peak times on the sam server (which is different than the webserver)...So ftp is MUCH slower than the actual connection allows. this is also to help avoiding overages on bandwidth usage for the dedicated server running sam...
Site was dreadfully slow yesterday - even timed out several times. Today seems fine.

Todd,

Lee Aaron is a female Canadian singer known as the "Metal Queen." Kerrang covered her a bit in the early 80's, because she was pretty hot. Her career never really took off.
She recently did some festival dates in Europe, and by all reports, killed.
I lived up in Canada for six months back in 1990-1991 and she was ALL OVER Much Music up there...which was just fine with me ;)

Afternoon Instrumental!
Dedicated by:
Black Lab

Great idea!

I know I'm the new guy here but has there ever been any thought to creating an afternoon for show casing instrumentals?

Similar to the cover tune 2nd Tuesday that HR80s has now?

B)
I tried that a couple of years ago, but it was nixed. Apparently, for most people instrumentals are only good in small doses. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-signs019.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)

Hmmmm, me thinks there a "hater" in our mists.

I've looked into this alittle bit...it appears I allowed guests (people not logged in) to rate songs. That being said, I'm going to delete all ratings where there was not a user id (ie not logged in), so that may change the ratings a bit :)

At a minimum this way if there's a hater, I can address it in a meaningful way :smashpc:

edit: 705 Guest rankings were deleted :)

Joe Comeau does vox on this album? Wow, I did not know it was him, but now I can hear his voice in there. This is one of those albums still on my "must get" list that I haven't added in yet.
Thanks for the Master Control cut, been spinning that album for years and it still kicks ass, man that album rules! :hbang1:
