I don????????t recall ever hearing the original Ultravox tune, but it must have been pretty big in Europe. Not only do these guys cover it, but so do Avantasia and Freedom Call.
Vains Of Jenna - Hey Hey, My My (4:06)
(By Request)

From: Reverse Tripped

I know this is a cover, but I forgot what band. Anyone?

Diamond Dave

Neil Young, from Rust Never Sleeps.

Yep, as soon as I heard it, I knew it was a Neil Young cover. Thanx!

I never heard of Sioux City. I'm guessing that's a cover of the Slade classic, but I don't know because I didn't hear the song.
Pretty Boy Floyd - Love Gun (3:06) (By Request)
From: Kiss Of Death - A Tribute To Kiss

New addition, and already I'm sick of it. Three times so far this morning. Never was a Pretty Boy Floyd fan anyway, They were barely D List on the Strip back in the day.

Sorry Rocko....I picked all three tunes. I just wanted to hear their take on some KISS Klassics, but I too agree they failed to hit the mark.

PFB best cover is of Motley Crue's "Toast of the Town", IMO

My bad! I uploaded it. D list is kind of harsh. More like C- List.
I'll be in the minority - I like PBF...but what Steve did with Shameless is far better.

I have that Ultravox album (Lament) on vinyl. it came out in 1984. I recall seeing the vid for this tune on MTV quite a few times. They were an interesting band that got dumped into the new wave pile because their early stuff was kind of electronic, but their later albums got more guitar oriented (sort of like Flock of Seagulls and The Fixx). The original tune is pretty darn good, lot's of overlayerd guitars and a dark sort of tone. I've heard the Freedom Call version, and they seem to have the best remake of it, capturing the original feel of the tune without just blasting through it.
Oh and yea, that album hit #8 on the charts int he UK, so it was a pretty big release over there.

I agree. Shamless is a much cooler band. All-star line up.
Queensryche - Almost Cut My Hair-(David Crosby) (4:19)

One of the most eclectic cover songs I've ever heard.

I meant cover ALBUM. This one's all over the place.

I always thought it was weird that Ultravox leader Midge Ure replaced Gary Moore in Thin Lizzy for a short period of time.

As do I. I have many Thin Lizzy dvds - pre and post Phil's death, and they never mention him. Snowy White gets more time - and not all of it good.
I remember the original ultravox tune, too. never was a fan of theirs particularly, but thought it'd be interesting to spin a cover of it today. first time i've heard it, might go and youtube the other covers of the tune mentioned (but not back to back. lol), just out of interest.

WRONG! Song was dedicated, by me. lol. SAM must be hungry again. I hit the newly added RR button again.
