RIP Rock 103.5 Chicago...
A bit of history...for those that have nothing else to do today...
This was one of the last songs played before a great rock station changed formats. This song takes me back...
That event back in 98(?) eventually led to HR80s.com, so it's bittersweet. Had it not changed formats, I woulnd't have been a core member that rallied fans of 1035 and started CRC Radio, which led to a Chicago area metal mag (CRC Pulse), an extreme (active rock) internet stream and an 80s internet stream (eventually called hardrockin80s). I need to dig out my old cassettes that I recorded of the final hours or the mp3's if I still have them. Freak's radio anarchy, Eddie Webb, Chris Payne's house of payne showcasing local bands...Good times...
Also won tickets to see Metallica in a venue of 4,000 people those final hours (The Garage Barrage). Smashed up front..Never been that close to the guys in the band. Was very cool...Lars called into the station after hearing the news (as did Duff McKagan, Local H, Sevendust, Megadeth and many popular bands during that era) and was talking to the staff and Eddie shouted "Lars, Buy us a station"...So...We printed a tshirt that said "Lars Buy us a station" and threw it on the stage during the garage barage (rock 1035 played the crap out of old school metallica)
I still remember the rockstock concerts they put on. Dave Mustaine said at a concert just a year before the flip that (paraphrasing) "You don't know how f'n lucky you are to have a station that plays this music. There is no station like it. Everybody scream 'I'm so f'n lucky' ;) Man...
that was like 15 years ago. ouch...getting Old I am...
I can only hope that HR80s has a similar effect on it's listeners that Rock 1035 had on me...

We had one here in MD out of Baltimore called 97 Underground. They used to just come on during the weekend (would start 5:00 p.m. Friday and go through 5:00 p.m. Sunday) and although they were quite low power, I could pick them up at my place up in the county. Killer station and they played everything from glam to deep local underground thrash and they even released a few local band cd's (All Thrashed Out and No place to Go). They eventually got bought out and move to 103fm but disappeared right about the time grunge kicked in. Word was they lost there advertisers or something.
Excellent write up here about the history. The bottom of the page says something about them being back but at last check this was a Spanish dance music channel.
Different world back then tuning in the radio on Friday afternoon after a crappy work week, getting ready for the party weekend....:beerme:

Very cool! Yeah...things were a lot different back then! I'd love to have heard that station! It's amazing to see all that is on the radio is the same tired cookie cutter stuff (imo). Maybe some markets are different, but last time I visited Chicago, they didn't have any good radio. Also used to have Rebel Radio on a low power fm signal that i couldn't get...That was the only place I'd heard that playd slayer and Iced Earth on fm...Ahh...This was back before Al Gore invented streaming on the internet (or something like that)

Hmmm... I believe this may be a little off. If I remember my Latin, both of these word are in their nominative case and would directly translate:
Dues = God.
Culpa = Guilt.
I believe a more accurate translation would:
Guilt of God.
The tune was still outstanding. Ghost still reminds me of early BOC.

Just curious,
For new artists added, what level are they going in at?
example: The Winery Dogs.

Based the rules as described and all other opinions tossed in after the initial ratings they would be a 2. Sound wise they are perfect fit and pedigree for sure moves them from a 3 to a 2.
Of course that is just my opinion :hbang1:

Kotzen, Sheehan, and Portnoy
It's not an 80's band, but all of these guys have ties to them. The sound fits in with what is played on HR80's. IMO, a solid 2!!!! The same goes for Black Star Riders again it's only my opinion.

They sound like Mr. Big with Chris Cornell singing for them.

Mr. Big is a pop band compared to them.
And Chris Cornell wishes he could sing as good.

I'm seeing Steve Vai tonight
It'll be a very special show, he'll play with an orchestra. In a hotel. :blink:
The audience number is very limited though. Sure it's going to be a blast!
Just going out. See you!!

Thanks Russ!!
It was awesome, well, that word doesn't even start to describe it.... Strange for being in a small auditorium and that I could see everything (I am a tiny girl, so I ususlly can't see a lot on shows, haha) but sound was perfect. Different form the typical show but really cool. Mr.Vai knows how to renew himself.

They should have won it last night. Maybe I shouldn't second guess a coach with 4 rings, but how do you take the biggest guy off the court, the biggest defensive presence you have, a shot changer, your best rebounder, when there may be a need for a critical rebound, which there was. Bosh brushed off Manu like he was a fly on his ass.

Agreed! I couldn't understand for the life of me why you'd pull your best player in that game (Duncan) in that situation - to get him some rest? If he doesn't have 20-50 seconds or so in the tank, then maybe you should have rested him earlier...I think Popp did it twice if memory serves me right...strange indeed...

Looks like the folks down at Buffalo Wild Wings wanted a game 7!
