I know it's cheesy but, this is considered the first Hair Metal Power Ballad of the 1980's. 1983 to be exact!!!!!!
From:
Gods Loyal To Odin

By the mid-1980s, hard rock and heavy metal bands routinely released power ballads in an effort to cross over to Top 40 radio.

M????tley Cr????e's "Home Sweet Home" is often cited as the glam metal power ballad that popularized the genre, and aired frequently on MTV in 1985, eventually becoming the most requested video for three months straight. Def Leppard's Bringin' On The Heartbreak was an even earlier aired power ballad, which was popular on the MTV charts in 1981.

Let's not forget Beth by Kiss - that was the one that got me.
True. But I try to forget that song. I'll stick with Lep! :D

Funny, your description above is the exact definition of "power ballad" in Wikipedia. You may want to note the source of your info next time, buddy boy, since it's not the first time you've done that.

I totally agree, skulls. and after all the thrash that has been playing in the last hour or so, I really needed this - not a bad thing your dokken got bumped earlier ;).
In order to have a power ballad, you have to be a metal band, not a hard rock band. So once again, you are incorrect. Might want to think before you criticize. Night Ranger was NOT a metal band. Hard rock, yes. Metal, no. And yes, I have quoted them before. Is that a big deal? I could have gone to several sites and found the same info.
