SAM didn't let me dedicate today's Afternoon Instrumental. IMHO, this live version is one of the best instrumentals ever performed. Sorry Yngwie and Satch.

> A couple years ago I was vacationing in St. Lucia and one night ended up in a bar with a bunch of dudes from the English Navy. They were a blast! Got to talking about music and I told em I listen to lots of Maiden & Scorps & Priest & Def Leppard etc, they all laughed and said "you're stuck in the bloody 80's man!" Thats my all 80's day story for today

as far as I'm concerned, Slick, there's no better decade to be stuck in musically. Quite the same thing over here and I'm proud of it :D

This is the type of thing that still pisses me off, why is this the only style of music that people are supposed to "grow out of"? Beatles fans never had to grow out of it, did they? I'm sorry, I just find pop music so disposable lately. As a professional DJ, I still play lots of stuff from the 50s 60s 70s 80s, some 90s, but I don't expect that the class of 2004 will pine for Ja Rule or Yellowcard, the way that we look at things like Rough Cutt, Black 'n Blue, or Loudness.
I don't hear about kids saving up for Lil Wayne records, or following the Lady Gaga tour from town to town. I'll stay stuck if it means giving up passion!
If you have kids or friends with kids, instead of Power Ranger figures or video games, as a one-off, give 'em a gift certificate for a guitar or drum lesson, watch what happens...

agreed john. just because the hairstyle and clothes back then weren't exactly catwalk-fashionable doesn't mean the music sucked and we're supposed to get over it. the simple fact that there ARE so many old bands still around, still rocking, still having hordes of fans following them proves something about their quality. I do not expect anything similar with any of the new acts. it's not only disposable it's just made to last just a short while, make a quick buck and then be replaced. like alice said, back in the day, a record company would give you a contract for 10, 20 albums and work on you, your sound, improve you till you got where they knew you could be. today, if your 2nd or 3rd record doesn't hit big, you're out of the picture cause there's 200 others waiting to slip into your spot and try their luck. sad really.
aren't there any t-shirts that say, "Stuck in the 80s and proud of it!" ? I'd wear one.
speaking of old bands: aerosmith tour dates are coming out on a daily basis now. I'm waiting to see if they'll come over here. looks like they'll be touring with ZZ Top on most of their US tour. rock from A to Z ;)

A couple of years back, one of the kids' my son went to school remarked that his mother said, "Colin's family is stuck in the '80s." Colin heard about it, and told the kid, "At least we're not hillbillies, like you and your family!".
What a great kid - mine I mean.

Well, I cannot see him saying that ( ), but I do agree with the sentiment - what crap is that??
Tee hee - how is his ball playing this past week? Did you make the game the night you got back??
