OK, let's be clear...I don't hate NWOBHM, but rather I only like it in small doses. I really dig the "mainstream" stuff like early Priest, Maiden, Leppard, Saxon, Raven, etc. The more obscure "Kier" bands are not my favorites, but I will listen to them when they play. Honestly, those 5-tune blocks on Fridays, don't do it for me. And when there happens to be several blocks together (by chance), that becomes a bit much.

Again, HR80s is a great place to hear all kinds of music from different hard rock genres. If you dig it, play it. If you don't like it, the volume may go a little lower. Of course, if you dig it too, the volume may go to ELEVEN!!!

Finally, I have to say, Kier (and others) have educated me on the NWOBHM for sure!
Oh hell yeyah!

Diamond Dave keeping it NWOBHM Cool!!!

Song of the week.
Dedicated by:
Metalero

Every time I hear this tune I get a chill.

The first time I heard it was on my birthday several years ago. My wife had bought me the CD as a gift. I had also gotten a call to go approve my mother???s grave marker.... not something you want to do on your birthday. I grabbed the CD and off I went. As soon as I turned into the cemetery, Watching over Me started playing.

Indeed... she???s the angel watching over me.

Thanks Metalero
Doc: I lost a friend to leuchemia this weekend. I bought this album last
Thursday and on Saturday I was playing it.I had never heard that song
before. I was looking at some of his pictures on facebook when this song started playing and I couldn't believe the lyrics, it was as if I had written them. So true. So sad.
Great music this morning! And it's only 10 a.m

Nasty Bulletz (http://www.nastybulletz.de/)

Ok I have a head full of long hair and I am saying these guys are wearing wigs. If they aren't, they're spending one hell of a lot of time in the hands of a real talented hair sty-lest...

I am pretty impressed by the way SAM is "picking up" on the members' new music dedications and throwing out some additional unrequested tracks for the HR80s Faithful.

Thanks to Chris and all the Music Contributors for so much new metal!!!

Most were accidents involving prescription painkillers: specifically, opioids like OxyContin and Vicodin which are commonly prescribed for pain management, and are widely abused. Not one single death in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data set was due to overdosing on marijuana.

This research supports my anecdotal evidence compiled over years of performing clandestine meth lab clean ups.

An Eddy Grant cover? I kinda put this one into the bucket of songs that are pretty impossible to remake with credibility as the original is so iconic (yes, I am admitting I know and like the original B) ).

"We gonna rock down to Electric Avenue and then we'll take you higher."
Eddy was #91 on VH1's list of one-hit-wonders.

Eddy is one of those artist that did quite well in other countries, yet since he only had 2 known songs in the US (Electric Avenue and Romancing the Stone) he is a looked at as a One Hit Wonder. World wide he has charted in the top "100" 18 times and with 5 of those in a charting top 10.

Ok, not metal, but I bring it up because I watch those One Hit Wonder shows on VH1C and see quite a few artist that go by that had maybe one Number 1, but also charted with top 10's and 20's, etc. This seems to be shown a lot with our favorite hair, glam, and pop-metal artists where the ballad charts high, yet their other charting tunes don't seem to count (think: Cinderella, XYZ, etc.)

I think they use the OHW notation a bit too much...although no one really cares unless they were music junkies like us! :beerme:
Yeah, the whole concept of a one-hit wonder is pretty ridiculous. All it really means is that one particular song was overplayed to death, but people interpret it to mean that a band only had one good song. It's kind of like how Angel Witch went down in history as the worst charting band ever because they made it to #100 for one week (as if that were a bad thing).
