I respectfully disagree. All Andie did was relate a story about infidelity. There was no vulgar language, she didn't attack anyone personally, and there was no slander.

I'm white. If a black couple had a white baby, I wouldn't even think "race" if the I heard their story. Someone cheated on someone. That's the story.

Maybe not to you, but Andie was not at the dining room table telling the story to friends and family. She has no idea what we look like or what color my skin is, or that of my wife, best friend, etc. I'm just saying that story, told to the wrong person, could be considered VERY offensive, and it could be considered racist, which is "3) Slanderous remarks that are unfounded can be prosecuted under applicable laws".

If that's the story then that is how it should be related. Not that somebody goes ape shit over a black baby.

You are white. I wouldn't expect you to think of race as being an issue. Black people, and others of color, do.

All I am saying is you have to be careful what you say and where you say it. Like DJs and announcers that get too comfortable behing the mic and say something stupid because they just aren't thinking.

You have to know your audience before you speak (or type).

I understand what you're saying, I really do. I just took it to mean the guy went apeshit because he just found out his girlfriend was cheating, not because the baby was black specifically. I'm sure he would have gone apeshit if the baby was asian, hispanic, or just looked entirely different than him.

But I do get your point, so don't think I'm discounting it or trying to be combative. Just pointing out how others may have seen it differently, which is really is the trouble with this type of issue.

WHERE IN THE WORLD DO YOU SEE A THREAT?! :shock: I was simply pointing out one of the rules of this forum. A racist remark, if someone so deemed it, could be considered slanderous.
