> I could flood the station with never made it hair bands from the 80's but they suck too.

Gotta' agree there too. I also have scores of albums from Never Made It Hair Bands - hell, I was in one (we didn't suck, just never got the right break). But what's the point of having songs on the station just because they may fit the format if they're just plain bad?

Rockhead, all great comments! Love it!

DT is self-indulgent. They are AMAZING musicians, there is no denying it, but I find myself often bored listening to them. But gimme DT over NWoBHM anyday...not a big fan

Oh one more thing... Obama has taken a cent from me, too.
The big thing about all of this is when any of us complain about something (DT, NWoBHM, Butch Walker all come to mind) then our good buddie who requests without tagging his ID on them goes hog wild. I want to say it is "Long" as he is the "1" rater as that part is not annonomous but it may be some other hater.

Anyway

And thanks to Obama I am learning to speak chinese and how to deficit spend...funny how my power company does not take my deficit money.
Aren't about 97% of all rock bands self-indulgent? Have you seen a concert or music video lately? ;)
> Aren't about 97% of all rock bands self-indulgent? Have you seen a concert or music video lately?

Nope, not at all. I can think of no other band - with the possible exception of Rush - that plays fifteen to twenty minute songs, and seems intent on entertaining themselves rather than the audience.
Self-indulgence is not only measured by the length of one's songs. How they dress, how they act in public, how they act on stage, how they preen for the camera, that's all a measure self-indulgence. And most entertainers are full of it.

Love this album!

Nope, not at all. I can think of no other band - with the possible exception of Rush - that plays fifteen to twenty minute songs, and seems intent on entertaining themselves rather than the audience.

Rush has a total of 6 songs that are over 10 mins long (2112 being the longest and Cygnus-X on Hemispheres being number 2). With 17 studio releases, and an average of 8 songs (+,-) on each album (not counting live or covers) that's approx 136 studio songs.

6 of 136 is just about 4% of all of the songs that have extended timed tracks.

Kinda hard to lump them into the indugent catagory even though 2112 was admittingly a "do what we want album".
When I saw them live early last year, they played one long song "La Villa Strangiato" and that is just under 10. B)
Well said, Skulls!

Oh, I didn't know there would be a math quiz today...let me get a pencil. Can you repeat the question, lol!!!

All kidding aside, (as Walt said) Well said, Skulls!

Well, all I know is when I saw DT a couple of years ago, the show was a major disappointment. At the time they were touring (a surprise, I know, haha), DT had just released "Greatest Hit (and 25 other cool tunes)"; "Systematic Chaos" was scheduled to be release within a month. Well, you'd think they would play at least one tune I remember (that is, from HR80s playlist), but no. Most of set was the "deepest cuts" they could remember and EVERY tune was an extended jam. I almost forgot they had a singer since he'd just come out, sing a verse & chorus, then go off stage. They didn't really acknowledge the audience either, so I felt like I was peeking in on a rehearsal or something. AND they didn't even play "Pull Me Under" (their "Greatest HIT", as they put it "tongue-in-cheek" with the album title). NOW if that's not self-indulgent, I don't know what is

P.S. ...and for all of you who want the quick answer, X = 4

Exactly the point I was trying to make.

actually in this question, X = 4.92 ;)

All algebraic in put aside...

Budgie - Rocking Man (5:30)
By Request)

From: Squawk

This is a killer track from '72...

My question to the learned HR80s minds: Why didn't this band rival their English counterparts of the day Black Sabbath?

Dude! :woohoo:

You been eatin' Wheaties again???

You've been on a roll here lately with your deds.

Kinda makes it hard to get any work done when you're thrashing like a maniac!!!
> This dedication goes out to The North Koreans, of course they wont see this as they aren't allowed to stream HR80's, better luck next time!

Yesterday they were North Koreas brightest aerospace scientists and engineers.

Today, they???re saboteurs and traitors.

Mass executions will be televised on state-run TV. Get the kiddies and make some popcorn!
slick rated Chris's song Hell Hath No Fury with 3

Actually that song was more like a 7, I was rating the Halestorm tune before that with a 3, not sure how that happened. And I was being kind, I like Halestorm but that song made me start crying and then put me to sleep

Time for purgatory.

This seems to come by everyday without fail. There's other tunes on this release, right? Oh, yes there is, imagine that

> Tesla - Honky Tonk Women

For a friend's 50th birthday we did a music video. The songs were parodies of famous song's choruses. My favorite was "She's an incontinent woman. Empty, empty, empty her colostomy bag." Can't help but think of that every time I here this song.

> Babylon A.D. - "Bang Goes The Bell"
> Wildside - "So Many Lies"
> Roxy Blue - "Rob The Cradle"

Hey 314,
Great rock block and ironic for me....I saw ALL of these bands on the same bill back in the early 90's!!! Babylon A.D. was headlining, Roxy Blue in 2nd position and Wildside opened the show. I hadn't heard of Wildside and they were determined to win the crowd over -- AND THEY DID!!! Went out the next day and bought their CD. Wildside was the best on the bill, but the other two bands ripped it up, too!!!
Thanx
DDave
