hmm, is it just me or does this chorus sound like Iced Earth's "Declaration Day"? (both great songs, btw)

I am pretty sure most will agree that the upcoming track by Butch Walker may be a decent tune but has no business being on a site like this. Butch's work post SouthGang is not this format and the closest he comes to being acceptable on here is the Marvelous 3 albums - which are POP PUNK at best.

Don't get me wrong he has talent and has the ties to HARD ROCK but if that is acceptable then so should the Ronnie Lee Keel albums I have.

It is just my opinion but in this case I feel very strongly about being correct.
> Hey Slick, if you get a chance to turn on the Big East Conf Tourney noon game tomorrow, look for me, behind bench, second section off floor. And guess who plays that first session game? Yup, my Hoyas! When you get tix for these things you have no idea what the seeds are. Gotta love it when you get to see your team play also. Yea!

Can't wait! I'll have on all my Gtown grey and blue, so I'll probably mix right in with the crowd. With the last score check it looks like they will have Uconn. Ouch! Win or lose it's a fun day away from work watchin b-ball, babes in the crowd and drinkin brew :D

Good luck to your Badgers! I'l be in my home office on Fri, so I'll have the tube on in the bcakground. Hopefully CBS will have full day coverage!

I think the songs that I posted from the first Butch Walker album are appropriate for this channel, but that's it. Every other Butch Walker release after "Left of Self Centered" would not be appropriate in my opinion.

If those songs posted came out in the late 80's they would've been labeled Hard Rock, Glam Rock, Cock Rock, or Hair Metal.

We disagree and that's fine.
I feel the same about Billy Squire as he was almost a fit...but not quite.

What about Piper then? :P

I LOVE the PIPER albums...i crank them both all the time. It was a heavier sound than what he did solo.

I think Billy Squier fits as well, but that's me. I might be alone Squier though.

I tried before...I was out voted

I used to be a die-hard Butch Walker fan, as many of you may know. Hell, my son was even in one of his videos. But I have to agree, I really don't feel he belongs here. I too have all of his recorded work - including The Floyds - but none of that fits the HR80s format. Also, he fiercely denounces his hard-rock past. I asked him to sign a Southgang cd - I thought his eyes were going to fall out, he rolled them so hard.

I also don't like the direction Butch has gone. He's trying to be Elvis Costello and he doesn't like being associated with his Hard Rock past. That being said I still say some of the tracks on "Left of Self Centered" belong, but if Chris pulls them I'm OK with that. Heck, it's his station.

I would've voted with you. Here's another band that's debateable: QUEEN

IMO, their heavy tracks fit. "Sheer Heart Attack", "Tie your mother down" etc...

The first three Queen albums rock HARD. I wouldn't have an issue with them being here.Starz should be brought back as well.

Starz yes - Queen no...I love Queen but for me personally I want bands that pretty much full body of work belongs...I remember we had Blackfoot on here pre-crash, I'd say they fit but it would still be a stretch.

I know some might question BOC or Uriah Heep too...I do believe it is just the song style. Bon Jovi (mostly) fit expecially the 80's yet Loverboy does not (kinda the Billy Squire thing). I might even have had to think about Sweet - although I for one am glad they are here - all in all we KNOW what works and we know what doesn't and then their is some grey areas.

Take for instance - Black Stone Cherry. They are really close to not fitting but their overall sound is smack dab in the middle of the wheelhouse.

Great discussion none the less....maybe we should start a thread of debateable bands?

Great idea! How about Humble Pie?
