> just between you and me I dont really know why April Wine and Sweet belong...if so How about some Grand Funk?

Sweet were a huge influence on the 80's Glam/Pop Metal bands and the NWOBHM bands. Just think of how many bands have covered Sweet tunes: Raven, Saxon, Def Leppard, Black n Blue, Poison, Vince Neil ect...

The late 70's/early 80's belongs April Wine tunes belongs as much as Van Halen and Y&T.
A case could be made for Grand Funk as well. How about Uriah Heep or Wishbone Ash?

Then let's put the Beatles, Muddy Waters, and Little Richard on here too, as they influenced just about everybody.

This topic has been beat to death over the years. Chris has the final say as to what he considers hard rock/metal, and what he wants on his station.

The difference between Sweet and The Beatles/Muddy Waters/Little Richard is that Sweet was a Hard Rock band and the other artists were not.

I think another aspect about Hard Rockin 80's is that the station plays 70's bands that were not overplayed staples of 70's FM Rock Stations, which is probably reason why Led Zep isn't played on the station. That being said I think Grand Funk would not qualify and I'm a fan. I'd say yes to Uriah Heep and I don't know anything about Wishbone Ash.

Then again I'm not Chris, so what do I know.

Sweet were a huge influence on the 80's Glam/Pop Metal bands and the NWOBHM bands. Just think of how many bands have covered Sweet tunes: Raven, Saxon, Def Leppard, Black n Blue, Poison, Vince Neil ect...Scorpions, Girlschool, Krokus, Nuclear Assault, Not Fragile, 7th Stranger... the list goes on!

And I could definitely upload some Uriah Heep if people want to hear it.
I remember back in 2003-04 listening to Led Zeppelin, Boston, George Thorogood, Kansas and Donnie Iris on this station (and pretty sure Pat Benatar was as well). There's a reason they're not here anymore.

My guess is that those artists are played to death on Classic Rock FM radio. 70's bands like Angel, Black Sabbath, Sweet, Slade, April Wine, Deep Purple, and Kiss are not.

I agree with your "non-played to death" bands you listed. Nice to hear some "new" stuff...new that is to me. I have NEVER really explored the Angel, Sweet nor Slade discography, so it's all new to me.

We've had this discussion before in the forums...with Blue Oyster Cult, I believe. I'm glad they are now here! As for my opinion, I think Led Zep should be here, too. There is a fine line with the music here and some people don't like (nor get) the "gray" area of 80's music that stretches both into the 70's and 90's (and beyond). But (again) it is Chris' ultimate decision in the end.

Maybe it is just me, but from my listen to them I did not feel they fit the format? Others may need to comment. JMO

Yeah, I figured you might think that....I was thinking that, too. Actually, I was going to make that comment in my dedication, but didn't. As always, it is ultimately up to Chris.

> Next Saturday I'll be at the scene of the isthmus beer & cheese fest. About 50 micro breweries and about 50 local cheese makers, 40 bucks to get in and all you can eat and drink for 4 hours. And free cab rides to & from. It sounds like heaven to me!

Can't imagine the smell eminating from people after 4 hours of all-you-can-eat/drink cheese and beer. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-fart005.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)

I think they kick some pretty good butt, but if you want to know more about them http://www.aesthesia-rocks.com/ This is their 2nd album. Hailing from Paris France. Seems a nice little scene is developing over there these days...I believe '77 is from there too.
