First off, rock radio does blow donkey dicks...

This article played out the "butt" definition like it has been around for 25 years. This is the first time I have heard the term so I must have been under a rock somewhere. It's the same as the "mullet" hair cut. I sure do not remember ever hearing that term back in the day and it seems to have showed up somewhere in the 90's as that's the first time recall hearing it. Where it came from I have no idea and still have no idea how it applies to the style (which I myself had very similar to Joe Elliot during the Hysteria era).

It's just another description of bands, such as "hair metal" to downplay the era of music, and 70's arena rock gets the same negative blasts also (Styx, Journey, Reo, etc). The article also noted that most of the bands of that "style" were not talented (false) and was not accepted by the critics (f*ck the critics, why are they credible and exist anyway?)

I first heard someone say "butt rock" in the mid to late 90s, but I know a couple people who claim to have been using it since the 80s. Probably they thought cock was too dirty a word so they changed it to butt.

For the record, while I can understand applying the phrase to some of Metallica's later radio friendly hits (e.g. "Enter Sandman") the song that played yesterday was "Trapped Under Ice". Definitely NOT butt rock.

I meant that it???s business as usual for the Crew... just making fun of the whole butt rock thing.

Hey Slick, looks like the O's, Nats, and Brewers are in their last week of ball. Thought Wash was going to squeeze in there but sloppy play on game one Sunday did them in and the Reds keep kicking ass for that slot. So would be cool to see the A's and Pirates to battle it out in the end although Atlanta is tough to take down indeed. Either way, should be some great Fall Ball.

Hey Skulls, wow did the O's ever go in the tank. Pretty tough to keep up with the rest of the East...still 2 years in a row over .500 is a dream compared to the last 15+ years. Going back to a balanced schedule should help them hugely. Lets hope Machado is going to be ok, looks pretty nasty right now. I'll be rooting for Pirates for as long as they can go. Big Badger game against Ohio State Saturday!!!! A good season by the Badgers and I wont even remember who the Orioles are

As much as I remember that '79 WS with the Pirates and the O's, I am rooting for them too. It's been 21 years since they have made post season and McCutchen is a blast to watch at bat and on field. Machado of the O's twisted up real bad, man that looked like it hurt like hell! Then that collision in the outfield later on, the O's were getting beat up pretty bad last night.
Last season for Davey Johnson as manager for the Nats, heading for retirement again. Was hoping for just a bit more out of them and Davey noted "we just did not get it done", but was a good season and will be sad to see Davey go. I have no idea who is in the line for that slot, but bet there is a few that want that job!
I don't keep up with college football, but the beauty of it is as soon as baseball is done, college hoops kick in :beerme: :woohoo:

Hope the Pirates do well in the post season. Since I'm a die hard Cardinal fan, I don't want to see them do *too* well :) Just bought tix for the NLCS. Hope the cards make it that far...

Shaping up to be a good sports fall in MO...

Cardinals in the playoffs. KC Royals still have a shot (believe that??!!)...KC Chiefs have a dominating Defense (not since the 90s can that be said) and are standing tied for first place (for now anyway). I actually look forward to Sunday now...

And Mizzou football (hopefully) won't be a doormat for the rest of the SEC...
